The right to run the version you licensed, indefinitely, on the infrastructure you licensed it for. If you stop paying for support and upgrades, the system keeps running. It does not phone home and switch itself off, which is the point of a perpetual licence for a records system you are legally required to keep.
They renew annually and are optional. That fee covers version upgrades, security patches, and the support channel appropriate to your tier. Enterprise agreements add named contacts, quarterly reviews, and penetration testing support for assessments you commission.
Yes. The Community edition is free and perpetual, so you can run it as long as you need to. For a paid tier we will walk through your own document types and approval chains rather than a demo tenant, and give you a written scope before anyone signs.
By named user account, not concurrent sessions. Service accounts used for scanners, mailbox ingestion, and API integrations are not counted as users. Enterprise Plus is a site licence, so it is not counted per user at all.
You licence the difference. Because the licence is perpetual rather than a subscription, moving up is a one-time uplift on what you already hold rather than a new recurring commitment.
